BuGenes Project
As an extension of our global pharmacogenomics project, the BuGenes project aims to identify biomarkers that can predict in advance a child’s reaction to a treatment with Busulfan, the main chemotherapeutic agent used to prepare a patient for the transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells. The goal is to set up an algorithm to accurately and prospectively determine the dose of Busulfan to be administered to such a child, according to its genetics, for an optimal therapeutic result. Indeed, the reactions to the intake of this drug differ greatly from one child to another and individualization would increase its effectiveness
